When I sit down and think about what I am most missing, the word that constantly comes up is community.
I think we’re all missing it in a sense.
We go from school everyday and extracurriculars, to a lonely 9 to 5.
We may bond with coworkers, we may keep some of our friends from before, but the feeling is never the same.
We can never recover the feeling of just being. We’re working towards our future with all the hope in the world, and then we’re suddenly in it.
Maybe this feeling of loss comes from graduating and joining the “real world” in the midst of COVID, but maybe it’s always been like this.
Why do we give up this connection so easily? We just accept it. Say, “college is the best time of your life” and accept that nothing past it will ever be the same.
But what if we didn’t accept it? What if we didn’t lose this community? Would we feel different? Would we be more connected as human beings? As humanity?
What if we pushed past the autopilot? What if your life is bigger than work and preparing for work the next day?
Can you feel it? Can you feel the pull to be bigger? Lean into it. Let’s create something that satisfies this hunger for connection and being heard. Your life is waiting for you to wake up.
